Pakistan has capacity to defeat terror: Turkish president

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has the capacity to overcome militancy and extremism, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Thursday.

"Pakistan is going through a difficult phase of war against militancy and extremism but it is a great nation and a great country that has ample capacity to resolve its problems," Gul said while meeting a Pakistani parliamentary delegation, which is currently visiting Turkey, in Ankara.

Besides political and security-related cooperation between the two countries, the Turkish president highlighted the need to increase economic and trade cooperation as well.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi said the friendship between Turkey and Pakistan was time-tested and rooted in history. He appreciated the Turkish government’s role in combating terrorism and bringing peace to the region. app
